November 9, 2009
It was a pleasure meeting and getting to know all of the parents on
conference days last week. I believe that your child will be more successful
and thrive if we can communicate and work together in the best interest of
your child.
We started our Shapes Theme last week. We made the first three of four shape
puppets. Working with shapes will be an ongoing process as recognizing and
naming the four basic shapes (circle, square, triangle and rectangle) will be
on our semester report card.
The children enjoyed their second field trip of the year to Farm Fresh. The
staff at Farm Fresh was very friendly and made the tour fun for the
children. They ate apples and learned about produce. They also got to
sample turkey from the deli. Then it was on to the cake decorating. We were
so good that they gave us cookies to bring back to school. Next, we got to
see a real lobster. After that, we had gotten a little thirsty so we also
had some juice to refresh us. The tour was almost over, but we had one more
stop to make. We stopped by the flower and balloon shop and Farm Fresh was
kind enough to give each of us a balloon of our very own. It was really a
great field trip and we sang some songs to thank everyone for being so nice
to us.
We will continue with shapes this week.
In Chapel last week Pastor Bugg taught us the next Commandment: Do not
steal. Don't take things that don't belong to you.
FYI: Our Thanksgiving Feast has been moved to Wednesday, November 18. Mrs.
Staples and I will be taking turns going out of town from the 19th through
the 24th. We both want to be able to participate with the children for our
sharing time together so the date has been moved. I will be sending home more
information this week.

MANNERS:
Saying "Please, Thank You, Excuse Me"
Table Manners (sitting with two feet in front in you while eating,
not playing with friends or food, saying "Please"
instead of "Give me" or "I want")
Sneezing or coughing into your sleeve
Listening while the teacher is talking
Sharing
Waiting your turn
Playground (not throwing rocks or sand)
Chapel (being quiet, keeping your feet off the wood surface,
sitting all the way back in the pew so you don't hit your
head)
I know that these seem like a lot for your children to remember, but you do
have very smart children. These are basic manners that we will be working
with all year as they are very important social skills. You can help by
reinforcing them at home as well. Believe it or not, these basic manners
will help them be successful in life.
