This performance was videotaped by Mr. Crudup a week prior to the MTC recording session in June 2009. We decided to record on-campus in the music tech lab this year to accommodate faculty participation on one of the songs.Some of the footage, a few clips, were also recorded during the actual recording session. The students who participated on this video presentation were Allysha Saunders, Adrian Cowherd, Connay Bratton, and Osiris Miller. High school former HMTC students who served as mentors participated as well. They were Joshua Gatling, keyboard and bass guitar, Rosetta Smith, background vocals, and Justin Eley, lead vocals, background, and piano. The song entitled "
Sooner or Later" was written jointly by a writing team comprised of Adrian Cowherd, Connay Bratton, and Justin Eley. Hampton Roads Recording Studios provided the recording equipment and engineers to work along with our producer, Connay Bratton and our in-house engineer, Osiris Miller. It is also important to note that Justin and Adrian are 1st year piano students of Mrs. Binns who has assisted all of them immensely with the "
Piano for Youth Program" at Huntington Middle School.
We have a tradition of celebrating the birth of every new song with a pizza party. Additionally, the kids thought that we needed to follow our tradition commenced last year of celebrating a recording session with Chinese food. For those who desire to join HMTC we will be meeting in room 138 between 4-6 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week. Participants may ride the 21st Century bus home.Those who participate in band, chorus, or sports can also join and attend for an hour or so after their other school practices. Piano lessons will be given on Tuesdays. We will also be offering guitar lessons starting in mid-November. We are planning two field trips to the recording studio in Norfolk in December and April this year. - L. Binns
