Music Technology (HMTC)

On October 19, 2009 the Huntington Music Technology Club commenced our third year of exciting music creation and production. This year’s club is a mixture of old and new members including nine high school mentors. After eight weeks of collaborative efforts by writing team members we decided on two songs that we felt were ready for recording. Thus on a cold and dismal December 19th, Saturday morning fifteen students and mentors boarded a school bus to participate in the first of three recording studio field trips planned for this year.

Due to the inclement weather, the Transportation Department nearly cancelled the trip but after some discussion and pleading they agreed to permit us to complete the field trip, but on a reduced schedule of three hours less recording time! We were only able to complete the recording of one song written by seventh grade and 2nd year student Osiris Miller and his writing team entitled "Beautiful Eyes". Mr. Binns wrote the music soundtrack. The kids were extremely enthusiastic and excited despite the weather and the inability to record their second song, "The Only One for Me", written by Courtney Hastings and her writing team. Hopefully this will be done in March. Mr. Crudup graciously provided some airplay during the morning announcements on the following Wednesday. The smooth rap/jazz song features eighth grade student Keairah Briggs and mentors and co-writers Courtney Robinson and Rosetta Smith.
