Music Tech III
This is an advanced course that focuses on real-world uses of Music Technology. Students start by creating soundscapes and studying the Art of Foley http://www.marblehead.net/foley/ . As teams working collaboratively they will write an original short poem or story and set it to music or create sound effects. Additionally, the students create radio jingles, and short commercials in Music Technology class (for recruiting purposes) and by going into the community to recruit small businesses to produce commercials. They will work with other Magnet programs such as communications, chorus, drama, and dance for the final production. Students will act in the capacity of artists/composers/producers/recording engineers with the final product recorded onto digital audio tape or compact disc for the customer. Finally, the more advanced students will be introduced to the basics of film scoring. These students will use original small movie clips that they have created in their communications magnet classes or supplied by communications students and create original scores. As a final project, students create an electronic portfolio in the form of a Website that includes their projects and resumes.
