Special Conference for James River faculty with important guest speakers.

Perform in the lobby as guests enter building.

Arrive at 7:15-7:25 to set up, tune, warm-up. We will sight-read easy music.

Perform from 7:45 a.m. to 8:25 a.m.

Breakfast will be served after you play.

Wear: any pants, any shoes. You will be provided a t-shirt to wear.

Everyone: Bus leaves JRHS at 12:30 sharp. This is your final exam. Please dress properly--NO  FLIP FLOPS, boys must wear DRESS  SHOES!!

BARRAGE   REHEARSAL - Thursday: Feb. 22nd - required to play with Barrage - Call at 6 p.m.--please arrive before 6 p.m. in order to set up. We must all be on stage playing an A Lydian scale at 6 p.m.

Central Regional Orchestra directions

CENTRAL  REGIONAL  ORCHESTRA Auditions:

January 6th, 2007

9th grade only

We encourage everyone to audition, but especially:

  • students with private lessons
  • students who come for after school coaching
  • students who have gotten into CRO in previous years

Help/Coaching is available almost every day after school!!

MIDTERMS   EXAMS on TUESDAY, 12/19 - Bring instruments, music, equipment, pencils - exam will consist of sight-reading new music -rehearsal procedures

Wed. Dec. 13 - Robious Winter Concert - Arrive at 6 p.m.; Call at 6:20 pm

Thurs Dec 14th - JRHS Winter Concert, Arrive before 5 p.m.; Call at 5 p.m.

Friday Dec 15 - In- school assembly - leave class at the beginning of 4th lunch. Come help set up and change into concert clothes.

Report to the Theater and help set up as soon as you arrive at school.

The concertmasters will be checking off who has helped to set up.

Be seated in your chair, dressed, with your instrument and music, ready to play in the Theater at 7:30 a.m.

We start playing at 7:30 a.m.

All-County Orchestra - October 13th and 14th: Honors students must either participate or attend the concert.

The written portion of the Honors music test will be given on Friday Sept. 29 during class.

SRO Auditions 2006

Charlottesville High School

Saturday, September 16th, 2006

A BUS WILL  LEAVE   FROM   the bus loop in front of MANCHESTER  H.S. AT 6:30 a.m. You must tell Ms. Almore on Friday whether or not you are taking this bus.

Registration is from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. If you try to register even one minute past 10:00 a.m., you will not audition.

Auditions start at 9:45 a.m.

You must let Ms. A know by Monday Sept. 11th whether or not you will be auditioning.

You must either pay $5.00 or join Boosters to have the fee waived.

Click on the SRO link [at left] for directions. Direction will also be handed out in class.

HAVE   A   GREAT   SUMMER!!! Check out the Honors page for some easy ways to prepare for the Honors Music test. Soon I  will put all of the information about exactly what you need to do if you actually take Orchestra for honors credit.

Everyone should rest, relax, read some good books, have fun, and practice for Senior Regional Orchestra!

Last minute reminder: Please bring CASH for lunch (appr. $10.00) and for gift shops/souvenirs

Itinerary:

7:30 – Bus departs JRHS

10:00 - Arrive in DC - American History Museum --look for musical treasures

11:00 - LUNCH  in Museum

11:35 – Bus leaves Museum

12:00 - Tour of Kennedy Center

1:00 - Visit Kennedy Center gift shop

1:30 - Concert at Kennedy Center

4 pm (approximately) - Depart for Midlothian/JRHS

It's a SWEEP!! SUPERIORS for both Orchestras from ALL FOUR judges at Festival 2006!! Thanks to the Moms and Grans who transported basses!!! Many thanks to the parents who were able to come out in support of the Orchestras!!!!

Thursday, February 23rd   - Pre-Festival Concert [no snow date]

Cellos and Basses must bring your own instruments. 

 Call                - 6 p.m. – students must be in their chairs ready to tune at 6 p.m.

           It is NOT acceptable to come on to the stage “half-dressed.”

 Concert          - 7 p.m.

Friday, March 3rd – Festival - Bring your formal clothes to school!!

Cellos and Basses must bring your own instruments.

1:15                 - Leave class, get dressed 

1:30 p.m.         - Leave JRHS on bus; parents transporting basses may leave earlier

2:15                 - arrive Matoaca Middle School

Unpack, use facilties, tune, settle down, rosin bows, rest/relax
