All-County Orchestra

The 2007 All-County Orchestra will perform at L.C. Bird High School on Saturday, October 20, 2007, at 5 p.m.  The Petersburg Symphony winds and percussions will join us to perform as a full orchestra under the direction of Ulysses Kirksey, conductor of the Petersburg Symphony.

All students are asked to bring folding music stands to All-County.  None will be provided. 

Each student is asked to bring a snack on Friday and a bag lunch (including drinks) on Saturday.  

The rehearsals will be held as follows:

Friday, October 19 – L.C. Bird High School

Ø    A Bus will leave James River at 1: 30 pm and return at approximately 6:30 pm

Ø     Please arrive by 2:15; be on stage ready to tune at 2:30.

Saturday, October 20 – (BRING BAG LUNCH)-ou must provide your own transportation Saturday

               9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  Rehearsal                 

               12:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m.  Lunch (Bring a bag lunch.)                 

               12:30 p.m. -  4:00 p.m.  Rehearsal                 

               4:00 p.m. -  4:45 p.m.  Change into concert attire                 

               4:45 p.m. -  5:00 p.m.  On stage for tuning and warm-up                 

              5:00 p.m.                         CONCERT                 

Students must bring concert attire on Saturday morning.  Concert attire is whatever outfit you wear for concerts in your home school.  No light-colored athletic shoes, please!

Attendance at all rehearsals and the performance is required for participation in this orchestra, therefore, a commitment from you and your parents is of great importance.   Tardiness to rehearsals will jeopardize your seating.  Students who arrive late will not be permitted to audition.   EXCEPTION: Any senior who will be taking their SAT will be excused from rehearsal and are expected to return to rehearsal once they have completed the test.

The concert is free and the public is cordially invited to attend.  Time will be allowed for parents to take pic­tures prior to the performance, and Design Recording will be selling CDs and audiotapes of the entire concert. Vendors will be available for the purchase of various items, including strings.  The All-County Orchestra can be a very rewarding experience.  We are looking forward to working with you!
