Dear Parents,
Please continue to check your child's homework notebook nightly for new
assignments, projects and upcoming tests. The notebook is an excellent means
of communication and also a good tool for organization. Also, please remind
your child to return their AR books on Thursaday. Mrs. Cardone, our Room
Mother, helps with the AR program that day and your child needs their book so
they may take their test. It would be helpful if you ask your child to
summarize the story orally. This will help with comprehension.
December is a very busy month in Room 22. We are currently learning about
maps. We are doing many exciting activities throughout this unit. The students
are especially looking forward to the edible map activity that will take
place on 12/15/09. We need parent volunteers for this event and I garuntee
you will have fun. The map test will be on 12/18/09. Please use the study
guide to help your child review. In Science we are learning about weather.
This unit has been prepared to provide a deep understanding of change as it
relates to the changes in weather patterns. Emphasis will be placed on
identifying various weather conditions and the properties of weather. Look
for the weather study guide to help you with key terms and concepts. Make
sure your child knows the water cycle (evaporation, condensation, and
precipitation, kinds of storms, tools used to tell about weather, words that
decribe weather, and what a meterologist does.
On December 22nd we will be having our class party before the winter break.
The party will start at 12:00 and end at 1:35. Everyone is welcomed to
attend. Please look for Mrs. Cardone's letter to see how you may help.
While December is an exciting month, please continue with your routine.
Ensure that your child reads nightly and review concepts that are difficult.
Thank you for all your help.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Cole
