| Homework will be written daily by your child in their homework planner.
Homework is an extension of the classroom work. It also serves as an
indication to you of your child's progress. I believe that children should
learn to take responsibility for their own homework. It is the child's job
to write their assignments down, take them home, complete them, bring them
back, AND turn them in. Allow your child the opportunity to do his/her own
work, but feel free to assist as needed. All homework should be done neatly
with the child's NAME on it.
Your child's teacher will review the homework journal each day and SIGN
it. We ask that the parents SIGN also. This journal is a great way to
communicate with the teacher by writing questions/concerns. Please write a
note if something prevents homework from being completed. If the children
do not turn in homework, the teacher that is responsible for the subject
area missed, will have the child write an "Assignment Excuse Slip." If a
pattern persists, parents will be notified.
All homework pages are sent home in the homework folder every week on
Friday. We ask that you review the paper's with your child, sign the
outside of the folder/write any comments you may have, purge the contents of
the folder, and return back to school the following Monday.
As parents, I hope that you will participate in the homework process. You
are your child's first teacher and a role model for him/her. Provide the
necessary supplies and quiet space for your child to work free of
distractions.
