Your child’s success is very important. To create and maintain a positive
learning environment for all students, I will follow the behavior and
discipline procedures below. Please read and discuss them with your child.
Behavior Policy
The class will help form the procedures and policies that provide the
structure and functioning of the classroom. The children will sign their
name acknowledging their participation in forming these policies and their
agreement to follow them. These procedures will be posted in the classroom.
Your child’s signature also indicates their knowledge of any consequences
should a bad choice be made on their part. I do not believe in bad children,
just bad choices. My discipline plan encourages children to make the right
choice and to be part of a positive and productive learning experience.
Discipline Plan
I believe in individual, small group and whole group discipline.
The “bear,” system is for individual reinforcement.
The “weekly group tally count,” is to help children learn how to work
Together, and cooperate.
“Behavior bingo,” completes the bonding process, and helps teach empathy for
others and how to work for a common goal.
Rewards
·If a child keeps all four of their bears, they earn a sticker for their
sticker book at the end of the day. Sticker books go home every Friday so
you can see what kind of week your child had. (Please make sure books come
back to school every Monday.)
·Every time a group of students (they will sit in desk groups of 4 or 5,) is
ready, quiet, or on task, they will earn a tally. The group with the most
tallies at the end of the week gets to pick a prize out of the treasure box.
(We always need treasure! Small toys, and school supplies are great…..your
children can tell you what they would like to work for!)
·If the class is complimented, or behaves well as a whole group, they will be
able to pick a number from the number jar and mark that number on the class
bingo chart. When the class earns a “BINGO” they can vote for their reward.
Consequences
Children are always given a verbal reminder before any bears are taken.
If a child loses one bear, they do not earn a sticker.
If they lose 2 bears, they have a time out, this may mean no recess.
If they lose 3 bears, they have to write a letter of apology, or the rule
that was broken. They will also have a time out. The letter or rule may be
sent home to be signed by you.
If they lose 4 bears, they will go to the office and talk to the principal.
My goal is to have a positive learning environment led with a firm, yet
encouraging hand. Please support my efforts at home by encouraging good
manners, and work habits. Your child needs to know that we are a team
working for the ultimate goal of their academic success.
We, Mrs. White's class, will come to school everyday ready to learn.
We will work hard and always try our best.
We will listen to the teacher and respect school property.
We will be good sports and cooperate.
We will be honest and responsible, and we will always try to set a good
example.
Our goal is to have a successful year so we can move on to 2nd grade, and we
will have fun and enjoy ourselves while doing it!
