How to Make a Model of the Earth

ESOL students made a model of the
earth,
with the crust, mantle, outer
core, and inner
core. We drew circles on the
Styrofoam ball for each layer of
the Earth with a sharpie. We
painted the inside of the ball.
We needed to paint the layers.
First we painted the inner core
red. Second we painted the outer
core orange. Third we painted the
mantle yellow. Then we painted
the crust brown.

When we were done we let it dry
over the night. It’s dry! The day
after the ball dried, we wrapped
the address labels on the sticks.
Then we wrote down the names of
the layers on the labels. Next,
we painted the outside of the
Styrofoam ball green and blue and
we let the Styrofoam ball dry.

After that we stuck the labels on
the Styrofoam ball. Then we put
two sticks in the bottom of the
ball. We put the ball on the
green foam. Finally we wrote our
name on our green foam. We had
lots of fun making the model.
