How can my child make up his/her work?

1. I accept late homework, each day it is late it is dropped 10 points.
This shows up on the Progress report as an "L" if late one block, "LL" if
late 2, and "LLL" if late 3. I would rather they did the homweok/classwork
late than not at all.

Can they make up all work?

Not always. Example: If they missed a movie, they might not be able to
just
watch it and get the info I gave during the class watching. Also, how do
they makeup the Lecture (talking) I give? I cannot just recreate that. To
make up a Daily Grade, I require them to stay after school with me to give
me
back the 90 minutes of class time they missed - or, if they have resource or
study hall, they can come then.
I take my instruction very seriously, and like to think that each day we
have
done something important. Therefore, your student really should not come
back asking "did we do anything while I was gone?"

What should they do if they were absent?

1. They need to be responsible. They need to remember that work does occur
in their absence. Look at this website for the work and for the documents I
handed out in
class.

What if they lose a worksheet?

It is here on the website. Or, they can ask me ONCE. Then they need to
copy it from a classmate, or print it from this site.

What can I do to help?

Have your son/daughter check this website. OFTEN. Even if they are on
restriction, PLEASE let them at least use the computer for this purpose.
AND, check their INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOKS.

May I call you, or come observe a class?

Absolutely. I welcome you and your calls.

What if my child is failing? Isn't it YOUR fault?

It means that a) your child is not in class on a regular basis
b) fails to make up work
c) does no homework
d) is always absent on Quiz days.
NO STUDENT SHOULD BE FAILING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I GIVE MANY MANY
ASSIGNMENTS SO THERE SHOULD BE LOTS OF GRADES, ONE OR TWO MISSED WILL NOT
HURT THEM, AND THERE IS A TON OF EXTRA CREDIT.
IF YOUR CHILD IS FAILING, THEY ARE BASICALLY DOING LITTLE TO NO WORK.
