You are
touched by marketing every day; sometimes we are bombarded by
it. There are thousands of careers that are marketing-related. Going to
college? Most universities offer bachelors degrees in marketing.
Think about this:
Basically
any activity that is related to getting goods and services into the hands of
consumers is marketing.
Someone has a cool idea
for a wonderful new product that will meet consumers' needs - that's marketing.
Storing the product until
the consumer needs it and then transporting it to a place that is convenient
for the customer -- that's marketing.
Displaying it so that it
will get customers' attention and they will want more information about it --
that's marketing.
Promoting the product
through advertising and other means -- that's marketing.
..... and a lot of other
stuff!
Marketing students are
also presented with information about "soft skills" that every employer wants
in their employees, such as human relations and communications.
We also spend time on
honing skills that are related to employment and advancement. Some of these
areas include applications and resume building, interviewing, leadership, and
ethical behavior.
