Introduction
You have probably heard the question, "If a tree falls in a forest and there is no one there to hear it, does it make a noise?"
In ecology, instead you might ask, "If a tree falls in a forest and there is no one there to haul it away, what happens to it?" Well, what does happen to it? And how is this related to all of the other organisms in the forest?
We have previously learned about biodiversity and biotic and abiotic factors that influence different species in their ecosystem. In this activity you will have an opportunity to explore how organisms (biotic) in an ecosystem are dependent on one another for food to help sustain their species, and in essence - Who Eats Whom? |
