Have parents look over and sign your Math Journal. Return it Monday.
Thursday, 10/2
word study--prepare for your word study test; you will be expected to spell
and sort the words correctly and write the generalization for this week's
sort in your own words. Practice by explaining to a parent what you learned
about the patterns in your words this week. Check yourself by looking in
your notebook beneath the SAW.
reading--if you have not completed the Feeling chart for FREEDOM SUMMER,
then finish it tonight (we've worked on it for a week).
Wednesday, 10/1
social studies--Read pp. 56-59 (everything on the page--captions, charts or
graphs, etc.).
Tuesday, 9/30
Tonight you are preparing to contribute to a slide show we will be building
in computer lab tomorrow. In class you should have folded a piece of paper
into 4 sections. In each section you are to list something about you. Your
favorite food, clothing, type of music, and a physical trait.

Tuesday, 9/23
word study--the blue group in Ms. Parker's class and the yellow group in
Mrs. Mccammon's class have the timed sort 3 times, written in notebook,
checked by SAW, and signed by a parent. Other groups have NO homework for
word study tonight.
math--complete Math Journal or other homework that is not finished.
Don't forget to send in items for the Fall Festival baskets, and thank you
to all who "picked" apples at Open House and have sent in items. We
appreciate you.
Monday, 9/22
word study--all groups except blue (Parker's class) and yellow (in
McCammon's class) are to do the timed sort 3 times, record the times in the
word study notebook, check it against the SAW, and get a parent signature
(no initials, please). Those 2 groups will have this homework tomorrow
night.
social studies--response to MARTIN'S BIG WORDS
Thursday, 9/18
social studies--on the back of the "What It Means To Be An American Citizen"
sheet, write 10 sentences that list what you do to be a good citizen (in
your family, at school, at home, at sports practice, etc.)
word study--prepare for your word study test; you will be expected to spell

Wednesday, 9/17
social studies -- Complete your thoughtful illustrations of the Preamble of
the Constitution. You are to show your understanding of the phrase and to
add color to your carefully crafted pictures. Some of the picture ideas we
discussed in class were a document, different people, judge, police or
firemen, military, basic needs (food, house, clothing,) voting sign with a
picture of your grandchild, map or the USA. Please save the sheet that
explains the meaning of the words of the Preamble.
Tuesday, 9/16
word study--MAM's yellow group has to do the times sort 3 times, record the
times in the wors study notebook, and get a parent's signature. Those who
did NOT complete this homework last night must also do this same assignment.
social studies--plan your outfit to commemorate Constitution Day tomorrow.
Wear red, white, and/or blue!
