Beginning her seventh year at ODC, Anita Parker comes with years of
experience, primarily as a mom, but with several years of teaching
experience as well. Her background includes teaching first and second
grades in Norfolk Public Schools, third and fifth through eighth grades at
The Williams School in the Ghent area of Norfolk, and teaching regular and
honors English at Norfolk Christian High School. She is most proud,
however, of her two married daughters, Shannon and Karin, and seven
grandchildren, Collyn (9-year-old granddaughter), Parker (6-year-old
grandson), Tucker (5-year-old grandson), Connor (4-year-old
grandson), Avery (2-year-old granddaughter, and Reagan (a newborn). Ms.
Parker is thrilled to be at ODC and is loving the privilege
of spending her days with her third graders teaching language arts.
She has a B.S. in elementary education, a masters degree in English,
and an endorsement in gifted education.
Mary Ann McCammon is a graduate of the University of Evansville. She earned
her masters degree from Ball State University. She holds a Professional-
Collegiate Teaching License for N-7 with an endorsement in gifted education
K-12. She has worked with gifted students first in the summer camps, then
in the one day academic pullout program (teaching grades 2,3, and 5), and in
1998 became a part of the orginal faculty selected to initiate the new full-
time select program here at ODC. Working with gifted students is a joyful
challenge to her.
Two young women and two young men call her mama, ma, mom, or mother. Two of
the four granddaughters are one. The other two call her grandmama
or mommy's mommy. Her students long ago christened her as "MAM," her
initials, because they found Mrs. McCammon too hard to say.
To build a skillful community of thoughtful, questioning scholars.
