Is there an opportunity for a snack since the morning is so long?
Yes! Second grade is the last grade to eat lunch! Students in Room 1 will
have snack at 10:15 before P.E. Please send a healthy snack and a bottle of
water daily. The children are welcome to keep their water bottles on their
desk throughout the day!

What is Quest?
Quest is a school-wide enrichment hour held on Tuesdays. There will be
three 6 week sessions held throughout the year. Quest is an opportunity for
our children to study in depth, a topic that interests them. The children
will switch classrooms and join students and teachers from across grade
levels who share their interest. Drama, book club, aeronautical design,
math games, 3-D drawing, art, yoga, forensics, dance, knitting, Japanese,
and
mysteries are just a few of the many choices available!

How do we handle the loss felt moving from our home school to O.D.C.?
There is always a transition time for children in any change in their
lives. It is how we as adults model our reaction to change that will
greatly affect their adjustment to their new school. Listen to their
concerns. Give them time to work through the change. Children are
resilient! Don't think of your change in schools as a loss! It is a gain!
You now have two schools and will have friends all over the city! Keep them
active in your home school community and encourage
socialization with their new O.D.C. friends. My classroom is built on
friendship, respect, and care for each other. My immediate concern at the
beginning of each year is a smooth social transition into their new
school environment.
