Coach Emerson is a native of Vienna, Virginia where he attended James
Madison High School, excelling in football, wrestling and
baseball. He went on to play college baseball at Montgomery College and
George Mason University and was drafted into professional baseball.
After retiring from minor league baseball, Coach Emerson finshed his
Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education at GMU and is currently working on a
Master's Degree in Educational Leadership.
Coach Emerson taught Physical Education, Health, CPR, Driver's Education and
CPR for 6 years in the Alexandria City Public School System and the Fairfax
County Public School system. He has been nominated multiple times for "Who's
Who Among America's Teachers".
After serving 8 years in Adminstrative positions at Madsion H.S.
(as Assistant Director of Student Activities) and at Paul VI H.S. (as
Director of Development), Coach Emerson returned to teaching here at
PVI in the 2007-2008 school year. He is also now a part-time assistant in the
Athletic Office.
The Varsity Head Baseball Coach at PVI, Coach Emerson has led the Panthers to
a 160-53 record over 7 seasons icluding State Championships in 2004, 2008 &
2009... WCAC Regular Season Titles in 2005, 2006 & 2007 and the
WCAC Tournament Championship in 2007 & 2009. Coach Emerson has been named the
Washingon Post All-Met Coach of the Year, Washington Examiner Coach of the
Year and the WCAC Coach of the year. He has also been named Virgina State
Coach of the Year, Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year and was one of 8 finalists
for the National High School Coach of the Year. Over 3 dozen of his players
at PVI have gone on to play college baseball.
Coach Emerson has been married to Lisa for 14 years and the couple has three
children: Amanda (10), Haley (8) and William IV (3). He also coaches a
collegiate baseball team in the summer and works part-time as a scout for
the Detroit Tigers.
