Homework for Monday, 11 May 2009: "Don't Mean Nothin," The President
Truman - General MacArthur Controversy; read text p 917 to 920. "Don't Mean
Nothin" refers to a statement frequently made by soldiers in Vietnam. It is
chosen as the subcourse title because we will be studying the Vietnam Era
and the social and political strife of that era. We always begin with a
case study of the Truman - MacArthur controversy. Discussion will be
reinforced by the film "MacArthur."
Homework for Tuesday, 12 May 2009: "Don't Mean Nothin," Answer questions
and complete readings for "The China Tangle." Materials will be
disttributed in class on Monday.
Homework for Wednesday, 13 May 2009: "Don't Mean Nothin," Answer questions
and complete readings for "The Korean Crisis and the NSC 68." Materials will
be distributed in class on Tuesday.
Homework for Thursday, 14 May 2009: "Don't Mean Nothin," Answer questions
and complete readings for "The Sacking of General MacArthur." Materials
will be distributed in class on Wednesday.
Homework for Friday, 15 May 2009: "Don't Mean Nothin," Answer questions on
the President Truman - General MacArhtur controversy. Materials will be
distributed in class on Thursday. On Friday, we will also begin the
Twentieth Century series beginning with the "Happy Days," of President
Eisenhower.
