What is the Options Program?

The Options Program is a program for 14-18 year olds with 
developmental/intellectual disabilities.

I hear alot about Peer Mentors. Who are they and what do they do?

Peer Mentors are volunteers who give up 4 of their 8 day study hall time to 
volunteer in the role of tutor, coach, and friend. Usually, mentors are 
sophomore, juniors and seniors.  Freshman can sign up 2nd semester.

How can I sign up to Mentor?

Sign-up sheets will be hanging on the bulletin board outside the Options 
classroom. Or speak with one of the Options teachers or stop by Room 220B to 
speak with Mrs. Desmarais.

Can I get service hours for being a Peer Mentor?

Yes.  Freshmen, sophomores and seniors may receive service hours for 
mentoring. Juniors, who are required to provide a service outside of Paul 
VI, may receive service hours for volunteering at Special Olympics and/or 
Best Buddy events held at PVI.

Is training provided?

YES!  Training is usually held at the beginning of each semester.  Listen 
for announcements or see Mrs. Desmarais in Room 220B. Mandatory training for 
Fall, 2007 will be held on Wednesday, August 29 @ 11:45-1:00PM in the 
auditorium.  Lunch will be provided.
