SECOND QUARTER
ENGLISH
The students will be covering spelling, sentence writing, grammar, vocabulary and reading during this period. Meaning and understanding of words will be introduced to help with building vocabulary.
At the beginning of each week, students will do a lesson on spelling words. Homework will be assigned for completion of workbook and one- two other activities to go with the words. Quiz will be given on the last day of the week on the words that the student has been working on. The second day of the week, students will be working in Reasoning and Writing, by McGraw Hill.
READING
Reading will cover the remainder of the week. Each student will be given the opportunity to read aloud to the group stopping for comprehension check and then a final comprehension review at the end of the chapter or story.
During class the students will be reading A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens .
December and January will be spent reading about different the holidays and Martin Luther King.
