416 Earth/Physical Science
Teacher: Mrs. Eileen Liberti
Text: Namowitz & Spaulding, EARTH SCIENCE, D. C. Heath & Co., 1999.
Materials:
Three ring binder, dividers, looseleaf paper, pens/pencils
Notebook:
Students will maintain a three ring binder as an Earth/Physical Science Notebook. All notebooks will be organized uniformly with a Title Page, Table of Contents, Syllabus/Course Outline, Lab Safety Rules, Text/Class Notes, Homework, Current Events Articles, and returned quizzes/tests. This notebook will reinforce organization skills, record your progress, and serve as a major reference during communication between teacher, student and parents.
Class Policies:
- We will show respect for each other and ourselves through all words and actions.
- Bring ALL Earth Science materials and supplies to class each day.
- Keep ALL work in your notebook (neat and in order). Open notebook quizzes or notebook checks may occur on any day. Parent signatures are required weekly.
- Be on time. The door will close and class will begin at the bell. Tardy students will receive detention. Dismissal is by the teacher, not the bell.
- All work must be completed neatly and on time. Homework must be turned in at the beginning of class on the due date. Late work will have 10% deducted for each day late.
- Absent students may have one day for each day out to complete missed work. Students are responsible for scheduling missed labs, tests and quizzes after school within one week.
- Hall/bathroom passes are for emergencies only. A maximum of three emergencies allowed per quarter. Up to three bonus point will be awarded to students that do not use passes in each quarter.
- Follow all laboratory safety rules. Disregarding any safety rule will result in being removed from the work area and receiving a “0” for the lab.
- Do not copy any work that is to be graded. The honor code statement must be written and signed on all graded work including homework, tests, quizzes, projects, essays and lab reports. No signature will result in a “0” grade.
