NATIONAL LATIN EXAM test information is available. You may practice old 
exams.   Contest date is to be scheduled during the 2nd week in March 2009 
during Advisory AND 3rd period.
National Latin Exam

 
 
PVI REGISTRATION IS OPEN. National Mythology Exam is 
open to ALL 9th-12th GRADERS. 2009 test information is available. Check the 
Bibliography link.  PVI registration CLOSES DECEMBER 12, 2008.  Exam 
will be offered on a date to be announced between February 23 and March 6, 
2009. The fee PAYBLE TO A PVI LATIN TEACHER is $3.
National Mythology Exam

 
 
PVI REGISTRATION IS OPEN.  Medusa Mythology Exam is 
open to ALL high school students in grades 9 through 12. 2009 contest 
information is available. You can practice old exams. PVI students MUST 
register with and pay the registration fee of $3 to the Latin teacher NO 
LATER THAN JANUARY 30, 2009.  Contest will be offered during the END OF 
MARCH, 2009.  Exact date and time to be determined.  FEE PAYBLE TO PVI LATIN 
TEACHER IS is $3.

PVI REGISTRATION IS OPEN.  Bernice Fox Writing Contest 
(English). 2009 topic is 12 Olympians in 21st Century America!  PVI LATIN 
students MUST SUBMIT entries to the Latin teacher NO LATER THAN MARCH 
14,2009. See website for topic, format, and rules.  Latin teachers decide 
which entries will go forward to contest.  NO FEE.
Bernice Fox Contest

 
 
PVI REGISTRATION WILL OPEN SHORTLY.  SITE IS IN PROCESS OF UPDATING. CAV 
Tournament Contest will be offered to LATIN students at PVI during a week in 
March, 2009.  Exact date to be determined.  PVI registration and payment of 
$3 fee MUST BE MADE to the Latin teacher BY A DATE TO BE DETERMINED.  This 
lengthy contest (1 1/2 hours)of 75 multiple choice questions and a sight 
translation passage has an extensive syllabus which may be viewed at the 
website (being updated).  DUE TO ITS LENGTH,THIS CONTEST MAY BE OFFERED 
AFTER SCHOOL.  FEE is $3.
Classical Association of Virginia (CAV) Tournament Contest

Essay (English) Contest registration for LATIN students, payment of $2 fee, 
and submission of English essay entry MUST BE MADE to the Latin teacher NO 
LATER THAN a date to be determined.  See website (being updated) for topics, 
format, and rules. FEE is $2.

Classical Association of Virginia (CAV) Latin Essay Contest

 
 
PVI REGISTRATION will open shortly.  American Classical League (ACL) Poster 
Contest.  Three of the posters submitted to the Latin teachers will be 
chosen to be submitted to the national contest at the 62nd Annual ACL 
Institute in Los Angeles this coming June.  The theme is to be determined 
(the site is being updated).  See website (being updated) or Latin teachers 
for details on size and other requirements. No Fee.
ACL Poster Contest

 
 
PVI REGISTRATION IS CLOSED. Classical Association of the Middle West and 
South announces its Latin Translation Contest 2008-2009 for students who 
have had at least 3 years of Latin.  Contestants will translate a poetry 
sight passage as literally as possible without violating English idiom.  The 
exam is 1 hour in length.  The non-refundable fee is due to PVI Latin 
teacher by OCTOBER 24, 2008.  This contest will be offered during school 
hours during the week of DECEMBER 1-5.  See website for more details.  
Student application must be submitted via the Latin teacher.  Fee $2.
Classical Association of the Middle West and South (CAMWS) Latin Translation Contest

 
 
PVI REGISTRATION IS OPEN. Arena Stage announces its Annual 
Student 10-minute Playwriting Competition.  While any 5th through 12th grade 
student may enter this contest, PVI Latin students should prepare plays on a 
classical theme.  The play should be written according to Arena Stage's 
guidelines.  Deadline for submission (in proper competition format with 
cover sheet downloaded from site) to PVI Latin teachers is DECEMBER 1, 
2008.  No Fee.
