WEEKS OF APRIL 22ND AND APRIL 29TH
We now have only a little more than 3 weeks until the May 15th AP History exam. Because of this, we have turned our attention to the " Five Steps" review book and are hopefully progressing through two decades a week. The students are given due dates, the latest being Monday, April 22nd to have their chapter reading in "Five Steps" completed. Currently, we are on Chapter 23 " The Origins of the Cold War". By April 25th, I will expect the students to have covered Chapter 24 " Prosperity and Anxiety The 1950's"
Grades will be determined in the following manner:
1. open note quizzes - the student will be able to use any notes that they have taken on the Chapters. In addition, they may use their " in class" notes
2. tests on the Chapters - these will be announced several days in advance. I will combine chapters and tell the students the general topic I will be covering. The information for the test will be based on "Five Steps" as well as notes taken in class.
3. Essays - both in class and written at home.
The students have been encouraged by myself as well as FORMER AP HISTORY students to keep reviewing and reviewing the Five Steps book. I will often have students from last year come in to the classroom and encourage the current students to do this.. All of these former students received 4's and 5's on last year's AP exam.
Last year, the school had an unprecedented number of 4's and 5's on the AP US History exam. If anything, this years 's students should be able to do even better. I trust they won't let me OR MORE IMPORTANTLY, THEMSELVES down
