Class Policies - Geometry

CLASS GUIDELINES

 GEOMETRY, 2009-2010

MRS. McINTYRE

A.  CLASS RULES

1.   Behave with courtesy and respect.

2.   Come prepared and be on time.

3.   No GUM, eating, or drinking.

4.   Ask questions.

5.   Try solutions and be willing to make mistakes.

B.  GENERAL INFORMATION

  1. Homework is assigned every day and is due the next class day.  In general, no partial credit is given for late or incomplete assignments.  When you are absent from class but are in school during some part of that day, you must show me your homework the day it is due.  Credit is given for completeness.  Work must be shown.  Homework will be collected and graded occasionally.
  2. I am always available for extra help.  Please ask and I will arrange to spend extra time with you.
  1. Students should obtain the phone numbers of the other students in their learning group (their Study Buddies) and record them at the end of this sheet.
  2. Cheating on tests or quizzes will not be tolerated.  All such work will receive a ZERO and a detention will be given.  For homework assignments, I strongly recommend students seek help in understanding the material!  In such instances, working with another student is acceptable.  However, each student must complete the written assignment in order to receive homework credit.  Copying homework assignments is strongly discouraged as it does not test your understanding of the material or prepare you to do well on your tests.
  3. Memory work is essential.  There will be several unannounced oral quizzes each quarter.
  4. Work must be done in pencil.  Work done in ink will be given a zero.  Pencils are available to purchase from me.

C.  MAKE-UP POLICY

1.   The student is responsible for obtaining any missed assignments and class notes.  He/she is also responsible for showing me any completed work so that credit for it is recorded in my gradebook.

2.   If a quiz or test is missed, the student must see me the day they return to school, whether our class meets or not, to make arrangements to make up that quiz or test.  The amount of time allowed for makeup work follows the student handbook guidelines.

3.   Arrangements can be made to make up tests either after school or during a Study Hall.

4.   Arranged Absences:  If a student knows they will miss a class for any reason, for example, an early dismissal for sports teams, a doctor’s appointment, or a family event, they MUST see me beforehand to make arrangements both for assignments and any graded work they will miss.  Written requests from parents for absence from school for family reasons must be given to me in advance.  Otherwise I will consider such an absence as unexcused and will allow no makeups.
