Grading Policy

  1. Quizzes:  Quizzes will be given to cover assigned readings.  Point value will be determined by the length and difficulty of the reading.
  2. You will get participation points every day. If you are absent or unprepared, you will not get the points. I can't grade you if you're not there!
  3. Classroom exercises, scenes, improvs:  Every activity in class will be given a point value.  Students who are absent for classroom exercises will be required to do a make up assignment.
  4. Projects:  There will be at least two major scenes per semester.  Each scene will be assigned points according to the skills the scene is intended to demonstrate.  There is also a Class Participation point given every day for preparedness (bringing scripts, pencils, props, etc.) and for class time used productively.  No student will be allowed to leave the classroom to retrieve forgotten items. Do not bring in any prop that is valuable or dangerous! When in doubt, ask.
  5. Intro to Theater classes are required to see one live stage performance during the course of the semester.  Students seeing PVI productions must check in with the teacher.  Students seeing something outside PVI must bring a program and write a one page review of the performance.
  6. Acting Ensemble class members are required to participate in all PVI productions unless a substitute assignment is approved by the instructor.
  7. Rules and regulations for theater classes are posted on the Handouts and Policy page.
