The Sign of the Cross is a beautiful prayer in and all by itself! The students
also need to know how to say the Our Father, The Hail Mary, the Glory Be, and
the Act of Contrition.
I would also like for the students to learn the Memorare, a beautiful and
hugely helpful prayer this year. We will be saying the Memorare at the
beginning of every Math class again for the 2009- 2010 school year.
The Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone
who fled to your protection, or sought your intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To you I come, before you i stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate, do not ignore my petitions, but in your
mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.
For the 2009- 2010 school year we will be using a Religion book for Young
Catholics published by Seton Press. We will learn about the Blessed Trinity,
the Angels, Adam and Eve, Actual Sin, The 10 Commandments in detail, the
Birth, life, death and Resurrection of Jesus, The Ascension and Pentecost,
Grace and lastly, the Catholic Church.
The Ten Commandments
1. I am the Lord your God; you shall not have other gods before me.
2. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
3. Remember to keep holy the Lord's Day.
4. Honor your father and mother.
5. You shall not kill.
6. You shall not commit adultery.
7. You shall not steal.
8. You shall not lie.
9. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife.
10. You shall not covet your neighbor's goods.
Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace! The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among
women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of
God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
OUR FATHER
Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be
Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done,
on earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we
forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us
not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Glory Be
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever will be,
world without end, Amen
Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You.
And I detest all my sins because of Your just punishments
But, most of all, because they offend You, my God,
Who are all good and deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve with the help of Your grace
to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin.
Amen
PRAYER TO
SAINT MICHAEL
THE ARCHANGEL
St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen..
" Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord." - Romans 12:11
To do God's Will, every day, every way.
