Jan Siegfried hails from Valparaiso, Indiana, a 1978 graduate of Valparaiso 
HS.  She earned a B.S. in Music Area Education K-12 in 1982 from Ball State 
University.  That year she went on to audition for the United States Air 
Force Band in Washington, DC, and won the nationally-advertised position.  
She served as Solo E-flat Clarinetist in the Air Force Band, Washington, DC, 
and retired after 20 years of service.  

For over two decades Mrs. Siegfried has been active in the Fairfax, Prince 
William, and Prince Georges Counties as clinician, instructor and 
adjudicator, and is a recipient of the Virginia Governor’s Award and the 
Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction.  She is listed in the prestigious ranks 
of Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who of Worldclass Business Leaders.  

Mrs. Siegfried also directs the St. Stephen’s Community Orchestra, performs 
with the Virginia Grand Military Band, and served as past Music Director for 
the non-profit organization, the Reunion Music Society.  Mrs. Siegfried is an 
active member of Music Educators National Conference, National Catholic Band 
Association, Virginia Music Educator's Association, and National Band 
Association.  Mrs. Siegfried’s husband, Bill, is a CFI, CFII, MEI, and ATP 
flight instructor.  He also works as a professional trumpet 
player/instructor/clinician, and is the e.bass player in the Southern Rock 
band, The Stephanie Williams Band
