Tuesday, October 27:
 
We will take the VW Unit 3 quiz in class today.  Please come prepared with a #2 pencil or money to buy one.  Also, please read from the bottom of p. 275 to the top of p. 291 and complete the textual annotation assignment.  Please bring a hard copy of your annotations to class and submit an electronic copy of the assignment to www.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's class.

Please read the selection from Virgil's Aeneid on pp. 356-379 and complete the Creusa dialogue assignment (Writing Option #2) on p. 381.  Please post the dialogue assignment to www.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's class period.

Monday, November 9:
 
Please read the selection from Ovid's Metamorphoses, "Daedalus and Icarus" on pp. 398-403 and post to the class blog.
 
Unit 2 Oedipus project:
 
1. Here is the Oedipus Timeline Project walkthrough
2. Develop a storyboard of the timeline events, images, etc. that you plan to include.  This assignment is mandatory and will be collected as a homework grade.  Due date TBA. 
3. Review the steps necessary to complete the project using Microsoft Photo Story 3 before completing your project. 
4. Find the grading rubrics here. 

This project is due Thursday, November 19 by the beginning of class.  Please save your photostory to your PBWorks account and share it with me no later than the beginning of class on Thursday, November 19.
 
 


Friday, November 13:
 
Please develop 10 schoolympics questions for review of Unit 2, post them to www.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's class period and bring a hard copy to class.
 

 
Monday, November 16:
 
Please submit a copy of your completed storyboard for your photostory project to www.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's class period.
 
Tuesday, November 17:
 
Please complete VW Unit 5 and bring it for correction for today's class. Also, we will conduct the teacher-led review for the Unit 2 literature test on Wednesday, 11/18.
 
Wednesday, November 18:
 
We will take the Unit 2 literature test on the literature from Ancient Greece and Rome in today's class.
 
Thursday, November 19:
 
We will take the VW Unit 5 quiz today. Please read over the Catcher in the Rye intro powerpoint and be prepared to discuss what you have read in today's class.  AlsoThe Oedipus Photostory project is due to PBWorks (and must be share with me) by the beginning of today's class period. 
 
 
Friday, November 20:
 
Please read Chapters 1-3 of Catcher in the Rye and be prepared to discuss them in class.  Also, please post to the clas blog by the beginning of today's class.
 

 
During our study of Catcher in the Rye we will utilize literary circles to facilitate discussion and learning in small and large group work.  Please print off a copy of the Literary Circles handout.  Additionally, I will provide discussion questions for each reading assignment.  Please print each of these question sheets as they are posted for reference during literary circle and large group discussions.
 
Monday, November 23:
 
Bring a copy of the Literary Circles handout for homework credit to today's class.  Also, please print a copy of the discussion questions for Ch. 1-3.  Finally, please read Ch. 4-8, be prepared to discuss them in class and please post to the clas blog by the beginning of today's class. 

Tuesday, November 24:

Please be prepared to discuss Ch. 4-8 in literary circles in today's class.  Also, please read Ch. 9-12 and post to the blog by the beginning of today's class. 

Wednesday, November 25:

Please read Ch. 13-16, please respond to the Catcher writing assignment and post to www.turnitin.com by the beginning of class on the day we return from Thanksgiving break.

Also, please print off and bring to class on Monday - discussion questions for Ch. 4-8.



Monday, November 30:

Please respond to the Catcher writing assignment and post to www.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's class.  Also, please bring your discussion questions for Ch. 4-8 to class today.

Tuesday, December 1:

 
Please read Ch. 17-19 and prepare for literary circle discussion of Ch. 4-8.

Wednesday, December 2:

Please read Ch. 20-23 and post to the blog by the beginning of today's class.  Also, please complete VW Unit 6 and be prepared to correct it in today's class.

Thursday, December 3:

Please read Ch. 24-26 and post to the class blog by the beginning of today's class.  Also, please prepare for literary circle discussions of Ch. 9-12 and print the Ch. 9-12 discussion questions for today's class. 

Friday, December 4:

Today we will take the VW Unit 6 quiz in class.  This quiz will be a story quiz so study accordingly. 




Monday, December 7:

Please post to the class blog by the beginning of today's class period.  Also, please prepare for literary circle discussions of Ch. 9-12 for today's class period.

Wednesday, December

Please develop 15 schoolympics questions to prepare for review of the material we've covered in 1st semester.
