P1, P4 and P5 must have posted to the Lord of the Flies Blog post by today's class. P9 must have posted by Friday, August 29.
Friday, August 29:
Class policy signature pages for all sections are due today. If you've lost yours, you can print another copy from
here. Also, journal folders for all sections are due today.
Tuesday, September 2:

P9 must have posted to the Initiating dialogue post on the class blog by today's class.
P5 must have posted no later than class on Wednesday, Sept. 3. Also, all students
MUST have their class policies and journals submitted today.

Students will take the Summer Reading Test today - with the exception of P9, who will take the test on Thursday, 9/18.
Monday, September 22:
Outlines of "Spiritual Beginnings" on pp. 16-30 in the student text are due today. Also, today is an A day. Students should bring Unit 1 completed and prepared to grade to class today.
Also, today students may take advantage of the extra credit opportunity by attending Chinua Achebe's talk at GMU's
Fall For the Book Festival this evening.
Tuesday, September 23:
Read selection in the text from the Epic of Gilgamesh, pp. 32-46 and respond to tonight's blog post on Gilgamesh and Heroism. Don't forget all English 10 sections will meet in the tech lab on Tuesday to complete the in-class writing assignment.
Also, don't forget to study for the Unit 1 vocabulary quiz all English 10 sections will take in class on Wednesday.
Wednesday, September 23:
All English 10 sections should go directly to the auditorium for a brief PSAT introductory session with Mrs. Wolf. After the information session, all classes will proceed up to Rm. 222 to complete the VW Unit 1 quiz.

Comment on someone else's blog post from Gilgamesh and heroism under Initiating Dialogue on the class blog.
Monday, September 29:
Read selections from "Genesis" in the text, pp. 62-75, and respond to blog post on The Debate on Good v. Evil. Also, print a copy of the
Archetypes handout and bring it to today's class.
Wednesday, October 1:
Read selections from the "Book of the Dead" and "Adoration of the Disk" on pp. 50-55. Also post to the class blog.
Thursday, October 2:
Read selection from the Popul Vuh on pp. 76-85 and post to the class blog. Also, VW Unit 2 is due for today's class.
Friday, October 3:
Read and outline intro to India on pp. 102-113 in the textbook.
Monday, October 6:
Read the selection from the Rig Veda on pp. 114-118 and post to the blog. Also, be prepared to take the VW Unit 2 quiz in today's class.
Thursday, October 9:
5 paragraph compare and contrast essay must be submitted to
www.turnitin.com by the beginning of class today.
Friday, October 10:
Complete test #1 in the PSAT practice test booklet. We will go over selected answers in class.
Tuesday, October 14:
Complete test #3 in the PSAT practice test booklet. Also, bring the booklet to class Tuesday. We will simulate the testing environment and take practice test #5.
Friday, October 17:
Today all sections of English 10 will take the Unit 1 Literature test.

Read and outline background information on Ancient Greece in the textbook on pp. 166-178. Read and review the
Sophocles powerpoint intro to Greek drama.

Read Ch. 1-3 in Catcher in the Rye for today's class and be prepared to take the JD Salinger biography quiz.

Read Ch. 4-8 in Catcher in the Rye for today's class and post to the blog.
Wednesday, November 19:
Read Ch. 9-12 for today's class and post to the blog.
Thursday, November 20:
Read Ch. 13-16 for today's class and submit the completed
online quiz to me by email by the beginning of class.
Directions for submitting your quiz score:
You will take the quiz online. You may use your book to find the answers.
1. When you have finished the quiz, print a hard copy of the final page of the quiz with the score and # of times attempted as a "receipt" which you will submit in class as homework.
2. Go to "file"and scroll down to "save as"
3. Name your document " 'Your name' catcher online quiz" - it should be saved in "Webpage, complete (*htm., *html)
4. Open your email provider of choice and attach the saved file to email with a short message in the text of the email - "My quiz results" and your name will suffice.
6. That's it - you're done!
