Thursday, September 1:
Please print a copy of the
English 10 class policy and bring it in for homework credit to today's class (P8 - 1st period on Friday.) Please have your parent/guardian sign the signature page along with your own signature to submit in today's class. Also, please bring a copy of
Things Fall Apart for today's class.
Friday, September 2:
Today is the deadline for a timely submission of summer reading projects to the
www.pbworks.com class wikis. After the beginning of class for each section, project submissions for that section will be considered late.
Also, please post a response to the class blog by the beginning of today's class. Remember, click on the link for the appropriate class blog in the sidebar on the left side of this website.
Tuesday, September 6:
All students must bring a college ruled composition notebook to class for in-class journaling by the beginning of today's class to earn full homework credit. Late journals will earn a zero homework grade, which will not be changed.
Wednesday, September 7:
Please post a response to the class blog by the beginning of today's class period. Remember to post to the correct class blog to earn full credit.
Thursday, September 8:
Please print a copy of the
6+1 writing traits rubric, the
grading scale and
category descriptions, insert them in your binder and bring them to class for homework credit in today's class. Please review the material prior to coming to class so that you can ask any questions regarding these documents prior to our in-class writing assignment in Friday's class.
Friday, September 9:
Please prepare textual support for our in-class writing assignment on
Things Fall Apart. Also, bring your copy of
Things Fall Apart to today's class.
Monday, September 12:
We will meet in the Digital Resource Center: Room 201-A for our plagiarism prevention tutorial and
www.turnitin.com sign-up.
(P1 - we will meet 1st period on Tuesday, 9/13). Plagiarism prevention completion certificates must be submitted to Mrs. Y by the end of today's class period.Also, please read and outline the introduction to Unit 1 pp. 16-29 in the Language of Literature and bring the assignment with you on a flash drive to post them to

Today we will take the VW Unit 1 quiz in class. Please come prepared with a pencil in addition to your regular class materials. Print a copy of the contrast project description, + 1 grading rubric and a prewriting handout (chart/venn diagram) of your choice. Insert them into your binder and bring them for homework credit to today's class.
Thursday, September 29:
Please complete either the compare and contrast chart or venn diagram as a prewriting activity to prepare for writing you compare and contrast paper. Also, VW Unit 2 is due today. Please bring your copy of the vocabulary book completed and ready to check for homework credit to today's class.
Friday, September 30:
Please bring an outline of the basic structure of your compare and contrast WITH your thesis statement for homework credit to today's class. Remember the PEE Chain when structuring your body paragraphs.
Monday, October 3:
Today the Unit 1 Compare and Contrast essay is due for ALL sections. Please submit your completed essay to

Oedipus the King unit.
Come prepared to take notes on Greek tragedy and Sophocles. These notes will NOT be posted online.

Tips on Annotating handout and bring it in for homework credit to today's class. Also, please read and annotate the first section of
Oedipus the King on p. 258 - the top of p. 275 in your textbook. I will be checking your annotations in today's class as well.

Today we will take the VW Unit 3 quiz. Please come prepared with a pencil in addition to your regular class materials. Also, please read and annotate the second section of Oedipus the King on the bottom of p. 275-the top of p. 291 in your textbook.
Tuesday, October 18:
Please review the Oedipus the King introduction powerpoint. Please take special note on the informatiom regarding Sophocles innovations in Greek drama and the prevalent themes in the Oedipus cycle. Also, read and annotate the third section of Oedipus the King on the bottom of p. 291-the top of p. 307 in your textbook.
Please use the Bloom's Taxonomy handout to aid you in developing your higher-level thinking questions for our Socratic Seminar class days.

Please read and annotate the final section of Oedipus the King pp. 307-327 in your textbook. Also, prepare for Socratic Seminar for section 1 in tomorrow's class.
