 Unit 2 Oedipus project:
 
1. Here is the Oedipus Timeline Project walkthrough.  
2. Develop a storyboard of the timeline events, images, etc. that you plan to include.  This assignment is mandatory and will be collected as a homework grade.  
Due date: 11/4/2011
3. Review the steps necessary to complete the project using Microsoft Photo Story 3 before completing your project.  
4. Find the grading rubrics here.  

This project is due Friday, November 11 by the beginning of class.  Please save your photostory to your subpage on our class workspace on PBWorks.com no later than the beginning of class on Friday, November 11.  
 

 
Monday, October 31:

Please post to the class blog by the beginning of today's class period.  Also, please prepare your Section 3 (Group 1 and Group 2: 307-327) for today's class period.

Tuesday, November 1:

Today we will meet in the tech lab to work on the Oedipus photostory projects.  Also, please read "The Story of Daedalus and Icarus" on pp. 398-402 in the text and post to the class blog by the beginning of today's class period.

Wednesday, November 2:

Please complete questions 1, 3-8 and the comprehension check on p. 404 about "The Story of Daedalus and Icarus" and post the exercise to www.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's class period.

Thursday, November 3:

Today we will meet in the tech lab to work on the Oedipus photostory projects.  Please develop 10 questions and answers written in jeopardy format to review for Unit 2 literature test and post the questions to www.turnitin.com by the beginning of the class period.

Friday, November 4:

Digital storyboards for the Oedipus photostory project are due to the student subpages of the appropriate class wikispace NO LATER THAN the beginning of today's class period.  Late storyboards will not earn homework credit.

 
Monday, November 7:

Please complete VW Unit 5 and bring it to class to check today.  

Tuesday, November 8:

Please complete the Cruesa's Story dialogue assignment on p. 381 (Writing Options #2) in the textbook and upload it towww.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's class period.

Wednesday, November 9:

Today we will take the VW Unit 5 quiz in class.  Please come prepared with a pencil in addition to your regular class materials.

All CP English 10 students must upload and link their completed Oedipus photostory projects to their subpages of the appropriate class wikispace NO LATER THAN the beginning of today's class period.  Late projects will be decrimented by a full letter grade per day until they are submitted.

Monday, November 14:

Today we will take the Unit 2 literature test. Please come prepared with a #2 pencil in addition to your regular class materials.  Also, please read and outline pp. 420-433 on Ancient China and upload the assignment to www.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's class.

Tuesday, November 15:

Please read the selections in the text from Confucius Analects, pp. 434-438 and post to the blog by the beginning of today's class period.  
P8 will take the Unit 2 literature test in today's class. 


 Wednesday, November 16:

Please read the selections in the text from Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching on pp. 440-444, answer questions 1-4 and the comprehension check on p. 445 and upload the assignment towww.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's class period.

Thursday, November 17:

Please complete VW Unit 6 and bring your book to class to correct.  Also, develop 3 maxims that are important to you.  At least 1 must include use of parallelism.  Upload them towww.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's class period.

Friday, November 18:

Please read the selections in the text from the poetry of Li Po on pp. read 452 - 459 and post to the blog by the beginning of today's class period.
 



Monday, November 21:

Today we will take the VW Unit 6 story quiz.  Please come to class with a #2 pencil in addition to your regular materials.  Also, please read and outline the background information on Ancient Japan on pp. 486-497 and upload the assignment to www.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's class period.

Tuesday, November 22:

Please read the selection in the text from The Pillow Book on pp. 498-505 and the information about Murasaki Shikibu and the Tale of Genji on pp. 508-9, complete questions 1,2,4-6 and the comprehension check and upload the assignment to www.turnitin.com by the beginning of the next class period.

Wednesday, November 23:

Please post to the class blog by the beginning of today's class period.



Monday, November 28:

Please read the selections in the text on Zen Buddhism on pp. 510-515 and then complete questions 1-5, 7 and 8 on p. 516 and “Zen Solutions” on p. 517 and upload the assignment towww.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's period.

Tuesday, November 29:

Please post to the class blog by the beginning of today's class period.  

Friday, December 2:

Please complete VW Unit 7 to correct in today's class.



Monday, December 5:

P1 and P4 please take and submit the Asian literature open-book, take-home test by the beginning of today's class period.  Be sure to print a copy of your completed test to serve as a receipt BEFORE clicking the submit button at the bottom of the test.

Tuesday, December 6:  

Today we will take the VW 7 quiz in class.  Please come prepared with a pencil or money to purchase one in addition to your copy of the Alchemist and your other regular class materials. Also, please print a copy of the literary circles handout for homework credit.

Wednesday, December 7:

P7 and P8 please take and submit the Asian literature open-book, take-home test by the beginning of today's class period.  Be sure to print a copy of your completed test to serve as a receipt BEFORE clicking the submit button at the bottom of the test.  Bring your copy of the Alchemist to today's class.

Thursday, December 8:

Please read the Prologue, p. ix - p.25 in the Alchemist, prepare literary circle jobs for class discussion and print and bring a copy of the Prologue-p. 25 discussion questions for a homework grade to today's class.

Friday, December 9:

Please read p. 25 - end of Part I on p. 47 in the Alchemist and post to the blog by the beginning of today's class.




Tuesday, January 3:

Please prepare your literary circle jobs for the reading assigned on Friday, 12/9, using the lit circle jobs worksheets on the CP English 10 Links and Handouts page.  Also, please read from the beginning of Part 2 to p. 71 (stop at the star at the top of the page).  Finally, print a copy of the Alchemist pg 25-end of Part 1 (p. 47) discussion questions/vocabulary handout for our next literary circle discussions.  These printed handouts will be counted as a homework grade.

Wednesday, January 4:

Today we will take a check-in quiz on the Prologue to the end of Part 1 of The Alchemist.  Please come prepared with a pencil in addition to your regular class materials.

Thursday, January 5:

Please prepare your literary circle jobs for the beginning of Part 2 to p. 71 using the lit circle jobs worksheets on the CP English 10 Links and Handouts page.  Also, print a copy of the Alchemist beginning of Part 2 - pg. 71 discussion questions/vocabulary handout for our next literary circle discussions.  These printed handouts will be counted as a homework grade.

Also, all sections please read p.71 - p 104 in the Alchemist, prepare your literary circle job worksheets for that section and print a copy of the Alchemist p. 71-104 discussion questions/vocabulary handout for today's class period.  You will meet in literary circles in today's class.

Also, please read p. 143- the end of the Alchemist, prepare your literary circle job worksheets for that section and print a copy of the Alchemist p. 143 - end discussion questions/vocabulary handout for today's class period.  You will meet in literary circles in today's class to address this handout and share your jobs.

Thursday, January 12:

Please submit your the Alchemist p. 104-143 discussion questions/vocabulary handout by the beginning of today's class period.  Also, please complete VW Unit 8 and bring it to class to check for today's class.
