Monday, November 7:

Please review the description of the Monk on pp. 101-102 and decide whether or not Chaucer's Prologue character is criticizing the Monk.   If you decide he is criticizing the Monk, state why and provide at least 2 textual examples to support your position.  If not, state why you do NOT think that he is criticizing the Monk and provide at least 2 textual examples to support that position.  You may bring your response to class in print format.
 
Tuesday, November 8:

Please complete the Literary Analysis and Reading Strategy exercises for "the Wife of Bath's Tale" on p. 151 in your text and upload the assignment to www.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's class period.

Thursday, November 10:

Please complete your Canterbury Tales: The Prologue characterization worksheet and submit it by the begining of today's class for full credit.




Monday, November 14:

The Canterbury Tales Study Guide packet is due by the beginning of today's class period.  Please bring the packet to class to submit for full credit.

Tuesday, November 15:

Please complete the Pardoner's Tale packet and bring it to today's class to submit for full credit.

Wednesday, November 16:

Please complete your Wife of Bath noble vs. nobility in-class writing assignment and upload the assignment to www.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's class.

Friday, November 18:

Today we will take the Chaucer and Canterbury Tales test.  Please come prepared with a pencil, loose-leaf paper and a copy of your in-class writing assignment.




Monday, November 21:

Please read the background material on Arthurian legend on pp. 168-9 and the selection from Sir Gawain and the Green Knight pp 170-183 and post to the class blog by the beginning of today's class period.

Wednesday, November 23:
  
Please read the selection in the text from Morte D'Arthur on pp. 184-195, complete the Critical Reading exercise on p. 195, the literary analysis exercise on p. 196  and upload the assignment to www.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's class. 



Monday, December 5:

Today we will take the Medieval Romance test.  Please come prepared with a pencil in addition to your regular class materials.

Wednesday, December 7:

Today we will begin Unit 2 in class.  Please read and outline the background information on English Renaissance on pp. 236-250, upload the assignment to www.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's class period.  Also, be SURE to bring your textbook with you to today's class.  You will need it.

Thursday, December 8:

Please complete the Critical Reading questions on Spenser and Sidney on pp. 256 and 260 in addition to the Literary Analysis and Reading Strategy exercises on p. 261, upload the exercises to the appropriate assignments on www.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's class.  Also, be prepared to discuss and/or submit your Spenser/Sidney handout by the beginning of today's class period.

Friday, December 9:

Please read the selections in your text from the King James Bible on pp. 296-304, complete the Critical Reading exercises on pp. 300, 301 and 304.  Also, please complete the Literary Analysis exercise on p. 305 and upload all 4 exercises to www.turnitin.com by the beginning of the class period.

Thursday, January 5: 

Please read the background material on drama and Shakespeare's Macbeth on pp. 308-321 in your textbook.  We will take a check-in quiz on this material in today's class period.

Friday, January 6:

Please read and annotate Act 1 of Shakespeare's Macbeth on pp. 322-339 in your textbook.  Also, please complete the Macbeth Act 1 scene summaries worksheet, summarizing who is present and what happens in each scene of Act 1 in your own words.  Submit your summaries sheet to www.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's class period.



Monday, January 9:

Please complete the Critical Reading exercise on p. 339, the Literary Analysis and Reading Strategy exercises on p. 340 for Macbeth and upload the assignment to www.turnitin.com by the beginning of today's class period.
