Our first week has been a rousing success! Thanks for sending your students to me eager and
ready to learn. Here are some things I've discovered this first week...
--We need empty Pringles or tennis ball cans for a Time Capsule project.
--They get hungry!! By 11:00, they start asking me when lunch is and complaining that they are
hungry. I've started giving them a snack at this time and am asking parents to please
peiodically send in boxes of crackers, cookies, pretzels, etc. that I can keep on hand for
snacks. Thanks so much.
--Some students are not filling out their reading logs and ALL parents are not signing them!!
Each night the student should be logging what they are reading. I check them each morning and
collect them on Fridays. A new one goes home in their binders on Monday.
--We had our first "Fun Friday" today and I'm pleased to say that only a small handful of
students didn't get to participate due to missing homework or incomplete classwork. Fun Friday
is a great incentive to make sure the students are keeping up with their assignments.
