Second Semester Pre-AP Chemistry Homework Assignments
For each graded assignment: turn the assignment in on a separate sheet of
paper with your name and the assignment Chapter number clearly visible at the
top of the page. If it is difficult to identify which chapter an assignment
comes from or which student turned in the work, a deduction will be made from
the grade. SOL Practice is to be completed from the Jefferson Lab website (J-
Lab).
Mastery worksheets (Assignment 3 for each chapter) will be given out in
class. These worksheets are to be completed before lecture/discussion of the
indicated chapter takes place in the classroom. They are to be competed by
reading the textbook and taking notes on the reading (Assignment 1 for each
chapter-note that Assignment 1 is not to be turned in for a grade).
Vocabulary assignments (Assignment 2 for each chapter) will count as bonus
work for the mastery worksheets (up to one letter grade improvement if the
vocabulary assignment is turned in on time with the mastery worksheet for
that chapter).
Assignment 4 for each chapter is different from first semester. Now,
assignment 4 will be all of the “gold box” problems within a chapter.
Remember that the answers and explanations for these problems can be found in
appendix D at the back of the book, so you can check each problem to see if
you are doing it correctly. You must show all your work with units for each
problem.
Standardized test practice (STP) assignments (Assignment 5 for each chapter)
come from the textbook and are the on the last page of each chapter.
An SOL practice assignment (Assignment 6) will be due for each chapter. The
category for each assignment is listed below.
A new assignment (Assignment 7) is being offered as extra credit. Students
may earn 1 percent extra credit towards their lowest quiz or test score for
each problem completed in the assignment as long as all of the work is shown
for the problem and the problem is correct. No more than 10% may be applied
to any single quiz or test score. The problems must be turned in before the
test for that chapter is taken.
