Composition book for journals and bell ringers
Blue or black ink pens (only)
Pencils
Loose leaf paper
Course information:
This course focuses on improving your grammar and reading comprehension. This
class is non-SOL.
Course Objectives:
Students will ……
• Read selected text and answer questions based on what you read.
• Write a short autobiography and develop a portfolio of your work.
• Use proper grammar to develop all written and verbal assignments
• Identify types and elements of literature.
• Complete Journal entries three times a week (minimum on paragraph).
Course Requirements:
• Each student is expected to adhere to the Prince Edward County High
School Code of Conduct.
• Each student is expected to be respectful at all times.
• Each student is required to bring all materials and assignments to
class daily. Be responsible!
• Participation is mandatory. If you do not participate in class, you
will receive a 0 as a participation grade.
Grading:
Quizzes, Journals/bell ringers (due on Friday), Class Work, Homework,
Participation, Test (one each six-weeks), Autobiography and Portfolio

Make-up Work:
All work assigned is due on designated due date. NO EXCEPTIONS! See make-up
work policy in the code of conduct for more information.
Additional Rules:
* There will be no tolerance for classroom disruptions.
*Use of the computer is a privilege.
