We are enjoying fun things in the classroom this 2011-2012 school year. We use
the "I can learn" math lab on a weekly basis to reinforce topics and cover new
topics.
We also had a smart board added to the all content classrooms. The
students interact with this technology on a daily basis. Many good things
are coming up for the rest of the year.

For instance, in English we will participate in a silent barter with another
class. The students learned how to barter according to ancient
civilization's custom. It has always been a big success. Another trip the
students make is to the Holcoaust Museum. They develop a great sense of
tolerance from the discussion about this topic and the coorelation made to
the story we read.

Every year we visit the Appomattox Courthouse to see the sight of the Civil
War surrender. We also have Guest speakers come to our History class to show
us artifacts from the Civil War and wardrobe of the time frame.

The students also will complete a science fair project. Several of the
students from our six grade team went the district competition in
Appomattox during the 2010-2011 school year.

And you can't forget the spring baseball game where we watch the Lynchburg
Hillcats play. We always have a lot of fun.
