This page will answer questions commonly asked by students and parents.
  1. What are acceptable sources for current events?
  2. Do I need to turn in the current event rubric with my current event?
  3. Do I need to turn in a copy of my article with my current event summary?
  4. When are we going to use the 300 note cards?

What are acceptable sources for current events?

You may use the internet, television, and newspapers.
Radio reports are not acceptable.
When looking for a current event to write about ask yourself
if the topic of the article is relevant to something we have
discussed in class. If the answer is NO, then that is a good
indicator that the article you chose is not appropriate for class.
Use your logic...a sports, music, book, movie article or report
would not be appropriate for use and result in a F on the assignment.

Do I need to turn in the current event rubric with my current event?

No, the rubric is for you to keep in your notebook for reference
throughout the school year.

Do I need to turn in a copy of my article with my current event summary?

If you can that would be great however, it is not a requirement
as long as you provide me with the proper URL (if its an on-line source),
television news source, or newspaper in which you found the source.

When are we going to use the 300 note cards?

We will use them in the Spring when we are reviewing for our SOLs. Keep them in a safe place until then.
