Everyday you must bring to class your

pen & pencil
colored pencils
glue stick
Student Planner
At the beginning of class, you must be IN your seat by the time the bell has
stopped ringing. Refer to page 5 of your Student Planner for tardy policy)
During the first 3-5 minutes of class, you are to sit quietly and get out
materials you will need for the day while I take care of my “teacher”
stuff….attendance, tardies, make-up work….etc…
No one is to get out of their seat without permission, especially during
instruction time.
During instruction time, no talking out of turn will be tolerated. Any
students being disruptive will be disciplined accordingly. (Refer to page 6
of your Student Planner.)
AT NO TIME, is any student to touch another student. This includes but is
not limited to slapping, hitting, kicking, plucking, smacking, pushing,
grabbing and tickling.
Classwork:
All classwork (notes, worksheets, handouts..etc..) is to be kept in your 3-
ring binder.
I DO check notebooks at the end of each 9 week period and it counts as a
test grade. It must be kept NEAT and in ORDER.
Any assigned classwork is to be completed at that time “in class.” DO NOT
ask if I am going to collect it. I will let you know.
Tests are generally a combination of multiple choice, true/false,
completion, identification, matching, interpreting diagrams and scientific
investigation.
Homework:
In general, your homework EVERY night will be to review material from the
previous class, in preparation for a short daily quiz at the beginning of
the next class.
You should get into the habit of checking the class website on a daily basis
for updates and assignments.
Homework is work that is to be completed “at home,” NOT at the beginning of
class on the day it is due.
Homework will be checked at my discretion.
Homework makes up no more than 10% of your final 9 weeks grade, therefore,
if it is not turned in, you will earn a zero for that assignment.
Extenuating circumstances will be considered.
At times, there will be homework quizzes in which you will need to have your
completed homework with you in order to do well on the quiz. This is to
check that not only you have completed your homework, that it is correct.
If you are absent a day after homework is assigned, it is your
responsibility to present the homework to me the day you return.
It is YOUR responsibility to keep track of your work! (Refer to page 13 of
your Student Planner.)
Make-up Work:
At the beginning of class, I will usually inform those that were absent
about what they missed the day(s) they were absent.
If I fail to inform you, then you need to raise your hand and ask.
Any worksheet or activity you miss must be made up and turned in within 3
days of your return to school.
Any tests or quizzes that you miss will be made up on the day you return,
especially if you were in class the day the test or quiz was announced. You
should be prepared.
Any work not made up by the designated day will count as a ZERO.
Consideration will be given in extenuating circumstances.
Once I have informed you what it is that you need to make up, I WILL NOT
keep after you to get the work done. (Refer to page 14 in your Student
Planner for the homework policy)
It is ultimately YOUR responsibility to make sure the work is completed and
turned in.
See my schedule below to make an appointment to make up work.
Extra Credit:
Extra credit will NOT be offered to individual students to take the place of
an assignment that was not turned in, even at the parent’s request.
The purpose of extra credit is to help students that do their work, but
don’t necessarily do well.
Extra credit will be given to all students in the form of a regular
assignment or built into a quiz or test.
I DO NOT assign “do-nothing” projects for extra credit.
At the end of each nine weeks, some assignments may be adjusted so that
extra credit is built-in.
Honor Code:
Please refer to Page 14 in your Student Planner/ Handbook.
Bottom line is……if you are caught copying another students homework,
classwork or giving or receiving help on a test or quiz, you will be given a
ZERO on the assignment.
Evaluation/ Grade:
Your 9 weeks grade will be determined on a total point system, with homework
being no more than 10% of your final nine weeks grade.
Progress reports will be given each 9 weeks, regardless of grade.
All graded assignments are the property of Princess Anne High School and the
instructor.
I will hand back graded assignments at the end of the 9 weeks.
Virginia Beach Public School Grading Scale:
A = 100-94 B = 93-86 C = 85-78 D = 77-70 E = 69 & Below
Standards of Learning ( S.O.L.) Addendum
The Commonwealth of Virginia has adopted Standards of Learning for
this course. Therefore, it is extremely important that students complete
all assignments, tests and projects, as all methods will be used to impart
knowledge and skills necessary to master the End of Course test.
