Due to the nature of the class, you should be reading and reviewing any 
material being covered in class.  At any time, there could be a quiz on any 
material that we are currently covering.  You should be reading "ahead" not 
just reading when you have homework.  

Mon 10/6/08
1.  Senior Assmebly (1A only)
2.  Continue working on Food Web activity.
3.  Check plants for water.
HW:  You should have the review questions and study guide for sections 1-3 
     completed.  Your homework is to complete the remaining questions and 
     study guide for sections 4-7 of chapter 4.  

Thur 10/2/08
1.  PopQuiz based on sections 1-3 of chapter 4.
2.  Water and fertilize plants after quiz.
3.  Activity:  Food Webs
HW: Continue working on your chapter 4 study guide notes and review 
questions.   

Tue 9/30/08
1.  Notes:  Chapter 4
2.  Check plants
HW:  Complete the notes for sections 4-1 through 4-3.
     Answer review questions for each section from handout.

Fri 9/26/08
1.  Quiz:  Chapter 3
2.  Check growth & apply fertilizer to plants.
HW:  None

1.  Check germination of plants.

HW:  Study for quiz on Chapter 3.  Check back after 5 pm on Thur for more
     specific information about the quiz.
     -How does environmental science differ from other natural sciences/
     -What are the steps of the scientific method and how do scientists
      reduce errors in their data collection?
     -Know the different types of models and examples.
     -What is meant by time delay?
     -Know the difference in the effect of positive and negative feedback
      loops.
     -What is meant by synergistic effect?
     -Structure of matter (protons, neutrons, electrons)
     -Atomic number vs. atomic mass
     -Difference in ionic & covalent bonds and how they form.
     -Differentiate between inorganic and organic compounds (examples)
     -Matter quality (high vs. low)  see diagram on page 51
     -Potential vs. Kinetic energy
     -Electromagnetic spectrum (various forms of radiation)
     -How do cosimc,gamma, x-ray, uv radiation differ from other forms of
      electromagnetic radiation?
     -Energy quality (see diagram on page 53) 
     -Physical vs. chemical changes
     -3 factors that determine how harmful a pollutant is.
     -Types of pollutants and examples
     -What are the three types of ionizing radiation released from 
      radioisotopes?
     -How do those ionizing particles differ?
     -Review the pie graph on page 57.
     -Differ between nuclear fusion and fission. (pg 57 & 58)
     
I tried not to make it too long, but there is a lot of material in this 
chapter.  I made this list based on the questions I plan on putting on the 
quiz.  The quiz will be about 35-40 questions.  "Maybe" if everyone does 
well 
on it, I will count it as a test.  

Mon 9/22/08
1.  Set up lab on the effects of pollution on plant growth.  
2.  HW:  Finish Chapter 3 Study Guide and Vocabulary

Thur 9/4/08
1.  Write your Representative about "No Child Left Inside of 2008".
    I emailed you the links.  Check it out, make a difference.
2.  Video:  The Lorax w/ discussion questions (see APES Assignments page)
3.  Read the "Truax" and compare to the Lorax.
HW:  Read "Tragedy of the Commons".  Use the internet to help understand
     its contents.
