Dear Kindergarten Parents,
We had a whale of a time during our Ocean Unit, but now we are excited to be getting our feet back on solid ground and beginning our Nature Club theme. We will spend the next several weeks concentrating on the nature around us. Sunday, April 22 is Earth day and Friday, April 27th, is Arbor Day. These days encourage us all to do what we can to help Mother Earth.
To launch us off on our new adventure, please take time as a family to make a list (sheet sent home) of those things that your family does to help Mother Earth. Please return your list when it is complete. We will share our lists in class and acknowledge every good deed done to help Mother Nature.
We are currently introducing our three nature clubs: The Botany Club (plants), The Entomology Club (insects) and the Ornithology Club (birds). Following our introduction to the clubs this week, our Kindergarten nature lovers will pick one of these clubs to concentrate on. We hope to awaken an appreciation for nature which will lead to a desire to take care of what we have.
We will be doing one special class project to highlight each club. We will be creating a garden in the outdoor classroom, led by the Botanists. The Entomologists will be taking special care of our butterfly project, and the Ornithologists will lead us in making and installing nesting balls and bird feeders.
