Students will be performing in the musical Anansi and the Moss Covered Rock.
The musical will be followed by a picnic for students and families!

Library Visit Next Thursday, May 24th
Please return you library books to school by Thursday, so you may check out
new books. This will be our final visit to the library this school year.
Book Club
Our Book Club Meetings went really well this week! The students had great
conversations about the characters, problems in the story, connections they
made while reading, and sharing their questions. Everyone has their next Book
Club Book. Students may also read them during Self –Selected Reading time in
class.

Math Homework
If your child has difficulty with homework problems please write a star near
the problem, so we can review the skill in class. You can help your child
practice money and time skills by giving him/her handfuls of coins to count
and asking him/her to find out what time it is by reading an analog clock.
Feedback on Class Work and Homework
In the Second Grade students do not receive letter grades. However, we do use
a check system to provide our students with feedback on their work.

forth my best effort.
√ My work shows I have some understanding of this skill and I can do it
well sometimes. I put forth a good effort.
√- My work shows that I’m still learning how to do this skill. I need to get
more practice with this skill and ask questions if I am confused.
Everyday Math Reference Book
Each student has been assigned a Everyday Math My Reference Book. It is a
blue small hard cover book with a seahorse image on completing homework at
home. When
your child does not know how to solve a problem or what the front. It is a
reference book that can be referred to when something on the
homework means, you can help your child get more information by using the My
Reference Book. The math journal and home link worksheets indicate which
pages in the reference book to go to for more information. My Reference Books
should be kept in your child’s back pack so they can be used at school and at
home. They will be returned to RDS at the end of the school year.
Scholastic Book Orders
Scholastic Book Flyers will be sent home the first Friday of every month.
Ordering books through Scholastic is a great way to provide your child with
books that are just right for his/her reading level. In addition, when you
order books we earn free books to add to our classroom library. Please see
the Scholastic Letter for more information.
