Mrs. Hoak is originally from Long Island, New York. She attended the State
University of New York at Stony Brook, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Anthropology. Mrs. Hoak is a retired Air Force officer who has
lived all over the world, including remote locations in Alaska and Iceland.
While in the Air Force, Mrs. Hoak earned a Masters degree in Aviation
Science. In 2002, Mrs. Hoak started a graduate teaching program at Old
Dominion University to pursue her interest and dedication to the teaching
profession. In May 2004, she earned a second Masters of Science in Education
and Teaching Licensure in grades Pre-K through 8 with a middle school
endorsement in Language Arts and Social Studies, graduating as a member of
the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
Mrs. Hoak is a lifelong learner who is committed to providing an interactive
teaching environment for her students. She holds high expectations for all
of her students, and continually strives to provide a climate of trust and
caring in her classroom. She expects every student to try his or her best
and practice good citizenship skills in the classroom.
