1. contribution – the act of giving or doing something positive 2. civilization – people in an advanced stage of development - one with art, music, government, and a strong social framework 3. direct democracy – a form of government in which the people vote on the laws, began in Ancient Greece 4. representative democracy – a form of government in which the people elect representatives to vote on laws, began in Ancient Rome 5. monarchy – a form of government in which a king or queen rules 6. arch – a curved stone construction that spans an opening and supports weight above it 7. aqueduct – a structure containing arches that used gravity to bring water down from the mountains to the cities 8.
