1. contribution – the act of giving or doing something positive 2. civilization – people in an advanced stage of development - one with art, music, government, and a strong social framework 3. direct democracy – a form of government in which the people vote on the laws, began in Ancient Greece 4. representative democracy – a form of government in which the people elect representatives to vote on laws, began in Ancient Rome 5. monarchy – a form of government in which a king or queen rules 6. arch – a curved stone construction that spans an opening and supports weight above it 7. aqueduct – a structure containing arches that used gravity to bring water down from the mountains to the cities 8. These are also known as the TOOLS used to produce goods and services. 26. producers - people who use resources to make goods and or provide services. 27. economic specialization - focusing on one product or service. 28. economic interdependence - two or more people or countries depending on each other for goods or services. 29. economic choice - the choice among many alternatives. 30. opportunity cost - what is given up when a decision is made. 31. community - a place where people live, work, and play. 32. rules - what people must or must not do. 33. laws - rules people live by. 34. government - a group of people who make rules and laws, carry out rules and laws, and decide if rules and laws have been broken. 35. right to life - everyone has the right to live in safety. 36. liberty - having the freedom to make choices. 37. happiness - the feeling of being happy which comes from having opportunities and choice. 38. equality - treating all people exactly the same way.
