I completed my undergraduate degree at James Madison University in Health
Sciences. I have a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in
Health Assessment and Promotion and a minor in Exercise Leadership. I
worked at the Virginia Beach Health Department and coordinated the
Cardiovascular Health Promotion Program for a little over 3 years. In this
position, I was able to teach health classes to children. It was at that
time that I realized my true passion is teaching young children! I decided
to go back to school and get my teaching certification in Elementary
Education from Virginia Wesleyan College. I am so happy that I made the
change!! I absolutely love every day in the classroom with my students!
This summer I spent doing my administrative internship at Thoroughgood
Elementary School. I served as the Assistant Principal for the summer
school program. I value this experience and everything I learned from the
administrative staff. I plan to utilize the skills and knowledge that I
gained from them everyday inside and outside of the classroom. I will be
finished with my degree in Educational Leadership from The George Washington
University this winter!
This is my fourth year teaching at Trantwood Elementary School. I am
serving as grade level chair to a team of five wonderful teachers. I am so
excited that we will have three teachers new to Trantwood in our grade! I
can't wait to see what the 2008-2009 school year will bring!
