Word Study News

Word Sentences

1. Choose a spelling word. I will choose "nail".
2. Next I will write a 4 word sentence (because "nail" is 4 letters). My
first word will begin with a "n". My second word an "a". My third word
an "i", and my fourth word a "l".
3. Example: Nancy ate icky lions.
***Most likely the sentences will be silly sentences!
4. Make sentences for eight spelling words.

Ladders

1. First you will choose 1 of your spelling words--I'm going to use SECRET

                   S E C R E T

2. Choose another spelling word that can connect with Secret. I choose
ASLEEP.

                   A
                   S
                   L
                 S E C R E T
                   E
                   P

3. Now I need to find a word that connects with either Asleep or Secret.
I'll use LEAST.

               L E A S T
                   S
                   L
                 S E C R E T
                   E
                   P

4. I will keep adding to my puzzle until I use 10 spelling words OR I can
make more than one puzzle but will need to use ALL 15 spelling words.

****Several students forgot to turn in their Word Study notebook on Friday.
Please remind them that it is their responsibilty to make sure their
