Week of October 6-10
****I've just loaded some pictures! Check them out :)

Dates to remember:

October 6 - Progress Reports sent home
October 8 - Picture Day
October 15 - Book Reports due

1. This week in reading we will be focusing on character development. Allie's
Basketball Dream is a story about a little girl who hopes to become a
basketball star when she gets older. Ask your child to tell you about Allie,
and her persistence in pursuing her dream. Test Thursday.

2. Thank you for sending in your Box-Tops! For those of you who may be
unfamiliar with the box-top incentive, children receive one homework pass for
every 10 box-tops they bring in. Please send in only one pack of 10/week. I
am only giving one free homework pass per week. Because I did not address this
earlier, I will send home the extra packs to those of you who submitted more
than one this past week. Thanks!

3. Please remember to send in a healthy snack for your student! Healthy snacks
and water help the brain function at its best. Because of a severe peanut
allergy in class, I will ask your child to put his/her snack away if it
contains peanuts. Thank you for your understanding.

4. I have started to schedule parent/teacher conferences. I am available
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school, and Monday afternoons from
1:35-2:05. If you are interested in a conference before the scheduled date in
November, please email me.

5. Next Thursday we will be having our first Science Lab. If you put your name
on the volunteer list, someone will be contacting you. If you are not on the
list but would like to participate, please let me know.

6. This week in Science we will be learning about Simple Machines.

7. If you have any extra fall/Halloween decorations, we would love to have
them for our classroom :)

I hope you each has a wonderful week. Thanks for helping to make this year a
great one.
