Where do I find my child's homework?

Your child should have a planner. I will sign the planner when your child
writes down his/her homework for the day. If you do not see my signature,
your child DID NOT write down homework.

What is a READING LOG?

Your child will have a Reading Log in his/her binder. It will be on colored
paper. Your child should read 100 minutes per week. You will need to sign
the log and total the hours. I will reward students who have turned in their
reading logs each week for a month - PIZZA PARTY!

Can my child work on his/her writing assignments at home?

Your child will have writing homework. Usually, this homework is called
a "journal" or "quick-write". The writing process and writing paragraphs
will take place during Writing Workshop. These papers will not go home. Your
child will work on them during Writing Workshop time.

What should I do with the "Word" book? (Composition Book)

This is your child's word book. This book includes Word Wall words, Spelling
Words, and Vocabulary words from shared texts. Please review these words
with your child. You can have your child do a spelling game,
play "Hangman",or use them in their writing homework (journals,
quickwrites).
