Respiration Lab Prompt - keep in mind you're going to do a PS or Resp lab

Work for rest of class, homework (background reading - in this order):

   - read the syllabus points in 3.7 and 8.1 so you know what you will be studying

   - read in Course Companion (orange book) chap 8 and do the first question (all on page 83) -

   - At the campbell biology site, go to chapter 8; if you are on the online site you will see bioflix - click on that and do the animations for all the stages - remember that the chemiosmotic process (photophosphorylation) in light rxn of PS is almost the same as chemiosmotic process (oxidative phosphorylation) in ETC

 

Other work to do later this week - read chapter 9 in Advanced Bio (purple); & do all campbell bio activities in 9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 9.4 and 9.5.

 

Thursday, 11/5:
Cell Respiration - mitochondria & glycolysis notes (this is simpler so we will start with this)
Notes on Fermentation
Initial prep for lab to start on the 11th. Lab directions for PS and respiration

 

HW reading For Monday, 11/9:
Do stuff above, first.
Read over the whole HL ppt on respiration (review concepts of chemiosmosis & redox rxns)

Basic numbers of Aerobic respiration

**  Collect the data based question on page 83, all of it.
Begin aerobic stages  (Link & Krebs cycle); the krebs cycle pictoral
Discuss everyone's lab variables.

HW:

Complete the above background reading, plus read Campbell's chapter 9.
Redo your PS test if you want to try to improve your grade - due Weds. 

 

*Hand in the PS test redo.
ETC and chemiosmosis (animations and ppt) individual work on ETC
