Child of the World
A Musical That Builds Character
We would like to invite you to join our two classes for our performance
of “Child of the World”. This musical follows Artondale’s 2008-2009 theme of
building character traits. We will focus on Honesty, Respect,
Responsibility, Courage and Compassion.
You have several choices of days/times to join us.
Tues. June 9th 9:30 am or 1:05 pm
Wed. June 10th 1:05 pm
Thurs. June 11th 9:30 am or 1:05 pm
We really want all of Artondale to enjoy our musical, too! There will be
students from other classes joining us at those times. Be ready to be
impressed!
Buses #31, #70 and #80 are full to capacity. There are no extra riders
allowed. Please make arrangements to pick up your child if a friend from a
different bus is visiting after school. Thanks.
SCHEDULE
The school day is from 9:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. each day. Please do not drop
your child off any earlier than 8:50 A.M. as students will not be allowed in
the hallways and there is no supervision. If you need childcare for our
Wednesday collabortion times, please register with the YMCA at Artondale.
They are providing FREE childcare on Wednesday mornings, starting at 8:45,
and only if pre-registered.
HOMEWORK
Homework will be sent home on Mondays. There will be an Accelerated Reader
recording list and occasionally a Math, Science, or Social Studies
assignment. These assignments are due on Friday. Reading for 15 minutes
every day is a requirement. This can be a combination of your child reading
to you and you reading to your child. Oral reading is necessary for
children to develop their sense of rhythm and intonation and it’s a great way
to spend time together! PLEASE practice Math facts to 20, both addition and
subtraction.
BIRTHDAYS
We love to celebrate your child's special day! If you would like to send a
treat, please make sure that it is ready-to-serve (ie - cookies, cupcakes as
whole cakes are too difficult to serve) and store-bought with ingredients
listed. Due to allergies, we are a "NUT FREE" classroom! To avoid hurt
feelings, please do not send invitations to school unless the entire class
is being invited.
BUS NOTES
If your child is going home in a different way than usual, please send a
note to school. This includes being picked up by you if it isn’t their usual
routine. IF THERE IS NO NOTE, YOUR CHILD WILL BE SENT HOME AS USUAL. In
the interest of safety, all children who are picked up will need to be met by
an adult in the covered area near the gym, not at the classroom door. They
will need to check out with the staff member in charge.
BOOK ORDERS
Throughout the year, book order forms will be sent home from the Scholastic
book company. Order forms for two reading levels may be sent to accommodate
the diverse reading levels of the children. If ordering please pay by check
made out to Scholastic, or order and pay online at www.scholastic.com.
