<span class="c1"> Homework will begin NEXT FRIDAY! Here is my homework policy: Homework is graded under Life Long Learning Skills. Homework quality, accuracy, and completion are student & family responsibilities. I will provide homework and alert parents when it has not been turned in. Not participating in homework practice will affect how quickly students master spelling, math facts, and reading fluency. Homework Begins! Weekly Homework Due Thursday! 1. Spelling List- test is on Friday 2. Writer’s Notebook- (KEEP IN BACKPACK!) Each week there will be a new prompt. These notebooks are where we will gather ideas and details that we may write more about later. Students are learning to observe and think about the details of the world around them. These are VERY rough drafts that will be developed later. They need to do their best spelling but do not need to edit or revise. Students should have about a page of writing on the lined side and some sketching, list making, diagramming, ect. on the blank page that relates to the prompt or other observations they want to remember. This will be scored on the amount of effort shown. (Checked on Thursdays!) 3. Reading Log- (Log is in Writer’s Notebook) record the titles of chapter books as you finish them. You must complete at least 3 just-right or easy chapter books each grading period. (These will be checked at the end of the trimester.) 4. Reading Calendar- parents sign that student completed 20 minutes of reading at least 5 times a week for a total of 100 minutes. (Checked on Thursdays) 5. Math Facts- Practice your multiplication and division facts at least 5 minutes 5 times a week. You should have them mastered by now! Fact tests will be every couple of weeks and should show improvement if you are practicing. Cards will be made in class and kept in writer’s notebook. (no calendar, grade will be based on improvement on tests) 6. Miscellaneous- occasional math papers, reports and projects will be assigned throughout the year. Please look in weekly homework section for directions.
